Maid of the Mist, Niagara Falls

Maid of the Mist our up close and personal experience with the Niagara Falls

If you are planning a visit to Niagara Falls you must go on Maid of the Mist. In our opinion it is the best way to view the falls. You not only see them, you get to hear them, feel them, and yes even taste them (As our son Cash found out when his cousin told him to open his mouth). It is one of our favorite experiences we have encountered on our many family adventures.

We rode the Maid of  the Mist with 9 extended family members making 12 of us in total and we each loved the experience and would do it again in a heartbeat. We visited in July so the cool water from the falls felt amazing. I almost regret wearing the poncho that is included with the ticket price.

Upon arriving at the entrance of the Maid of the Mist we couldn’t help but notice the lines upon lines of people. Thankfully, the staff quickly and nicely helped everyone pick up tickets and ponchos and boarded us onto the boats which were arriving every 15 minutes or so. Before we knew it we were on the Niagara River cruising towards the majestic falls.

There were plenty of parking lots nearby that were an easy walk to the entrance, the Rainbow Bridge (Which connects USA and CANADA) and many other attractions and viewpoints.

Upon boarding, we noticed we could stand on the bottom of the boat with plenty of viewpoints but we decided to live dangerously and walk around the top of the boat and get soaked. It was a blast, we all laughed and enjoyed ourselves. Thankfully the poncho kept my camera, and phone nice and dry on our voyage and I had my GoPro to take videos and photos without worrying about it getting wet.

I would recommend this to anyone visiting Niagara, whether you want to get wet or not. It’s the best way to safely get up close and personal with the falls. It was so much fun we will do it again when we visit Niagara again some day.

You can find more about the Maid of the Mist and purchase your tickets in advance at the official Maid of the Mist Website.
