5 Reasons to Eat at Nola’s Creole & Cocktails in Tulsa

When I started covering more Oklahoma destinations, I realized I could cover local restaurants as well to help people find unique places to eat. Nola’s Creole & Cocktails is a great local spot on Cherry Street that brings a taste of New Orleans right to the heart of Tulsa.

Whether you are looking for a romantic night out or a fun family brunch, Nola’s has a lot to offer. Here are 5 reasons why you should dine at Nola’s.
1. The Unique Speakeasy Atmosphere

Stepping inside Nola’s feels like taking a trip back in time to the Prohibition era. Located in the basement of an old building, the restaurant has a moody, speakeasy feel with dark wood tables, polished floors, and beautiful chandelier lighting.

The walls are filled with historic black-and-white photos and artifacts that really pull the whole theme together. It’s a very unique environment that makes you feel like you’ve left Tulsa for a while.
2. Authentic Cajun and Creole Food

The food at Nola’s is inspired by the streets of New Orleans, featuring a mix of French, Spanish, and West African flavors.
-
Appetizers: We recommend starting with the Cocodrie Fried Alligator

-
Entrees: They have all the classics like Jambalaya, Gumbo, and Etouffee. For something a bit different, the “Voodoo Chicken” topped with shrimp and crab is a popular choice.

-
Dessert: You can’t leave without trying the beignets or their scratch-made bread pudding.

3. The Cherry Street Location

Nola’s is conveniently situated at 1334 E 15th St in Tulsa’s vibrant Cherry Street District. It’s a great location because there is so much to do nearby. You can easily spend an afternoon browsing the local shops or taking a walk through the neighborhood before heading in for dinner. It’s easily accessible and right in the middle of one of the best business districts in the city.
4. Prohibition-Era Craft Cocktails and Mocktails

If you enjoy a good drink, Nola’s is definitely known for its cocktail/ mocktail menu. They serve authentic Prohibition-era drinks and creative house specials. Their “Hurricane” is a fan favorite, made with fresh fruit and scratch ingredients. They also have a variety of Sazeracs and Old Fashioneds that match the vintage vibe of the restaurant perfectly. Their mocktails are thoughtfully crafted, and they also offer a selection of non-alcoholic beer, non-alcoholic wine.
5. Weekend Brunch
Nola’s offers a weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm that is worth exploring. They serve up Cajun-inspired breakfast items like Crab on Crab Benedict, Cajun Biscuits and Gravy, and even Tasso Cream Poutine. It’s a fun way to start your weekend with some flavors you won’t find at a standard breakfast spot.
