What’s there to do in Oklahoma?
Take a cruise down Route 66 and park the car for a drive-in movie at the Admiral Twin!
Many people say there is nothing to do in Oklahoma, but I’m here to tell you those people are mistaken. That’s why we started our “Whats there to do in Oklahoma” series. Oklahoma actually has places to see and things to do that you may have never heard about. The Admiral Twin is one of those places.
What is the Admiral Twin?
The Admiral Twin is a twin drive in movie theater. It has two movie screens for viewing, which typically show two movies on each side. It is one of the last drive ins in Oklahoma. It’s also the largest in Oklahoma with room for over 1,000 cars.
Our Experiences at the Admiral Twin
I remember going the the Admiral Twin as a kid. I loved going there. I’d play with the other kids in the field in front of the screen until the movie started. Then I would sit in the car or in a lawn chair and enjoy a movie and some popcorn.
Kayla and I have went to the drive-in a few times as date nights. It’s such a fun experience to be able to sit back in the car and watch a movie.
Both of our boys enjoy going and have been many times. It is a great thing to do with a family. It’s easier to take younger kids to see a movie because you don’t have to worry about your child crying or making a scene in a theater. It is also a fairly good price because you get to see two movies for the price of one ticket.
What movies do they show at the Admiral Twin?
They typically show four different movies. Two on each side. Your ticket includes both movies and the price is reasonable. At the time of this article they are showing Avengers Endgame and Captain Marvel on both sides of the screen considering how popular Avengers Endgame is right now. They typically show more kid friendly movies on one side and less kid friendly movies on the other side. You can see what they are currently showing on the Scheulde part of the Admiral Twin Website.
When is the Admiral Twin Open?
They are currently open on weekends only. But I think they have extended hours in the summer. Check their official site for more information.

The History Of the Admiral Twin
The Admiral Twin was built in 1951. It was featured in The 1983 movie The Outsiders which had many stars including C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Diane Lane, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, and Leif Garrett.
The Admiral Twin experienced a fire in 2013 and temporarily closed for a few years. but thankfully it was reconstructed and reopened.
Today the Admiral Twin remains a great family friendly destination to have a unique and classic viewing experience.
