Family Fun at the Tulsa Zoo in One Day – The Must See Attractions with Kids

The Tulsa Zoo is one of our favorite places to visit in Tulsa. We actually have a zoo membership so we can go anytime we are not out of town traveling. If you visit the Tulsa zoo more than twice a year it might be worth it getting a membership. (Check the math it could save you money.)

The Tulsa zoo is constantly maintaining and upgrading their exhibits. There’s always something new or updated to see.

It’s hard to see everything at the Tulsa Zoo in one day. So here’s our list of things you can’t miss when visiting the zoo.

10. The Rainforest

My personal favorite is the Rainforest. I remember when they first opened the rainforest when I was younger. It has been well maintained and is still a great exhibit.

Upon entering the rainforest look closely around your surroundings there are some animals in exhibits and some out in the open!

9. The Penguins

The Penguins at the Tulsa Zoo are one of the most fun animals to watch.

It’s so cute to watch them waddle and swim. There are many great viewing areas to watch the Penguins.

8. The Tulsa Zoo Train

The zoo train is also a must do. It circles around the entire zoo and even goes through a tunnel!

You can see many animals from the train ride and the speakers also narrate what you can see from the train.

7. The Lost Kingdom

The lost kingdom is the latest upgrade at the Tulsa zoo.

They have new exhibits to many animals including the tigers, snow leopards, bearcat and the red panda.

6. The Giraffe Exhibit

Viewing the Giraffes are a family favorite for my family. There is a tall structure you can walk up to get a better view of the giraffes from their height.

There’s also a giraffe barn where you can see them very close through a window if they are inside,

5. The Chimpanzees

The playful chimpanzees are always fun to watch. You can view them from inside or outside.

Be sure to get a photo to see how you compare to a chimp.

4. The Seal Exhibit

The Seal Exhibit is one of the most exciting exhibits. You can walk down and view the silly seals underwater.

They make laps right next to the viewing area. It’s our youngest Cale’s favorite part of the zoo.

3. The Playground

It’s hard to visit the zoo with kids without making a stop at the playground.

The Tulsa Zoo has recently updated their playgrounds and they are very fun!

2. The Petting Zoo

The petting zoo at the Tulsa Zoo is a family favorite.

My boys love petting and feeding the goats, sheep and other farm animals at the Tulsa Zoo. (Petting Zoo may be closed due to COVID)

1. The Elephant Exhibit

One of our favorite animals to see is the Elephant.

The inside also has some fun things to learn about elephants and an elephant statue my boys love to climb on.

Bonus – Visit during a Zoo Event

Visiting the Tulsa Zoo during one of their many events is a great way to see a different side of the zoo.

Hallowzooeen is our favorite zoo event! Hallow-zoo-even is something we can’t miss! We go every year because it’s so much fun dressing up, seeing the zoo decorated and getting tons of candy!
