Sequoyah State Park

What’s there to do in Oklahoma? Visit Sequoyah State Park in Cherokee County, Oklahoma!

Sequoyah State Park is one of many Oklahoma State parks and it’s probably the one I have visited the most. I first visited Sequoyah State Park over 20 years ago with my Grandpa. We went fishing there many times at Ft. Gibson Lake and I remember looking through the Three Forks Nature Center with my little brother. We even took Cash there on his first camping trip there when he was 3 years old.

Why visit Sequoyah State Park?

There are many reasons why you should visit the Park. It is a place to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. There is over 225 miles of shore linek and 19000 surface acres of water. It is great for boaters to fish, swim and cruise across Ft. Gibson lake. There’s also plenty to do on land. They have multiple hiking trails, picinic areas, guided horseback trail rides, golf course,  wildlife viewing, disc-golf, camping and nature center actives.

The Three Forks Nature Center

One of my favorite aspects of the park is the nature center. It has so many interactive activities and exhibits for all ages. They have live animals inside as well. Keep in mind the Nature Center is closed on Sundays but even if you can only visit on a Sunday the park itself is worth visiting and hiking. They also have a selection of animals outside of the building including a bald eagle. They have many events for the whole family so check out their Facebook page to see what’s currently going on.
